Halloween is this weekend and I am SOOOOO excited. I'm not a big fan of scary things but I love dressing up and seeing everyone's costume. My friends are also coming to BSU for the weekend so this Halloween will be even better. I am being a cowgirl and I'm still in need for some cowboy boots but I am planning on finding some today for not a lot of money. I am not a big fan of buying a super expensive costume, I rather make my own out of stuff I already own. I don't know how I am going to get through the day tomorrow because I will be too excited for Saturday. Happy Halloween!

H1N1
After writing my mini analysis for class this week it has me thinking more and more about the h1n1 vaccine. My articles were about the vaccine in Canada, Europe, and China and each place has a significant amount of people refusing to get the shot. They do not this it's a necessity for them or their children. I'm starting to agree and I don't think I will be getting one either when they become available. I might regret it later, but for now the negatives of the shot are definitely outweighing the positives. Hopefully the shot works for those who need it, but I do not believe it will help me in a positive manner like it is supposed to

Family
Since this weekend was family weekend my parents and two younger brothers came down to spend Saturday with me. At the beginning of the year I went home about 2 times in 3 weeks and after that i haven't seen them in over a month. So I was really ready for them to come because I missed them a lot. So they came Saturday morning and we tailgated then went to the game. We only stayed until halftime since it was so ridiculously cold outside. But we had dinner and everything then they went home and even though I'm going home again on Thursday because of fall break I'm sure they will be all I can think about for the week. I am really close to my brothers so I hate not being able to see them all the time like I used to. Hopefully I'll get used to it, but right now I miss them a lot.

Childbrith in Peru
GRADY, DENISE "Clinic in Rural Peru Draws More Women By Following Local Childbirth Traditions." New York Times 08 Sept. 2009: 6. Academic Search Premier. EBSCO. Web. 13 Oct. 2009.
This article discusses how rural parts of Peru has one of the highest mortality rates in pregnancy and childbirth. This is due to the fact that most women decide to give birth in their own homes as opposed to going to the local clinic. While at home, most locals trying to help do not really know the correct way to deliver a baby so they are just going along with what they think is the right process. It says only 6% of births in 1999 took place in a clinic. So doctors from a clinic tried to help these local women so they would see the severity of what they were doing. The women did not understand why the doctors made them wear gowns, give birth lying down, and did not allow family members into the delivery room. Most of those aspects of birth we are accustomed to here in the United States.

Rain Rain go away
The size of a pool ball and the width of a woman's headband. These items have one thing in common. They are both 2 inches. 2 inches is also how much rain we are supposed to have throughout today and into tonight. Most rainfall we receive is between 1/4 of an inch so to get 8 times that amount is a crazy thing to think about. We have been put under a flash flood warning. While this makes me excited because I get to wear my rain boots once again, I also hate the rain so it beings upon mixed feelings. Hopefully the rain doesn't become extremely bad and overwhelming but I'm sure everybody will make use of the big puddles around campus :)

Analysis
On the peer review we were given in class today I think the most helpful question is "How does the writer interpret more than what's just on the surface of the song?" I think this question would help me the most because often when I write a paper I see the common theme or problem just like everyone else and in this paper that does me no good. So I attempted to go deeper and create my own meaning and hearing if I did that well and they understood it would help me out tremendously. I really appreciate hearing other people's opinions because usually if it was up to me, I would turn in a paper right away without going over to correct things. I know that isn't a good paper but I've always been really good at composing papers in my own mind, but not necessarily to other people.

With my first semester of college being almost half way completed comes a lot of mixed emotions. On one hand I am very excited I've made it so far without any meltdowns, the other hand is seeing how all the midterm tests, projects, and papers are coming into view. While I am not totally stressed yet, I can feel it starting to crawl up behind me. This past week has had me doing more homework then I have been used to the past couple of weeks and getting less and less sleep throughout the week. Hopefully it doesn't flood into next week but unfortunately I have a feeling it will.
